The Southern Kafue - Where wildlife roam free
The focus of Lake Camp is exploring the Southern Kafue wildlife that is found around Lake Itezhi-tezhi. Here, the mega herbivores like elephant, buffalo and hippo are more common than down on the Plains and so the incredible diversity and variety that Nanzhila is known for delivering simply gets broader with the addition of Lake Camp. In addition to the variety of species, the open floodplains and shorelines around the edges of Lake Itezhi-tezhi make for a stunning wildlife experience.
"So happy to have found this precious paradise! We could have stayed much longer and enjoy the incredible game drives Sean has been able to offer us. Never seen that many animals in action!”
- Carmen & Sergio, Sept 2023
Highlights when visiting the Southern Kafue
Regional Highlights: Key elements you will appreciate when visiting this area of the Kafue.

Greater Variety of wildlife
The water dependant mega herbivores like hippo, elephant and buffalo around the lake shorelines will complement the staggering grassland and antelope species common on the plains with the big cat sightings being consistent from both camps.

Exclusive & Remote Setting
The tented chalets are all situated along the tree line, giving guests an unobstructed view of the floodplain and shoreline ahead which has a constant flow of wildlife.

Bushcamp Luxury
Comfortable beds with mosquito nets are complimented by a large en-suite bathroom and vanity area and expansive covered verandah for midday game viewing.
*TO NOTE* Please keep in mind that the landscape around Lake Camp changes significantly depending on the season (rainy or dry). Typically, the lake recedes during the dry winter months and begins to return with the rains in November. However, due to the severe drought Zambia has experienced over the past two seasons, the lake has not yet returned. We remain hopeful that, with time and rainfall, the lake will replenish.
