Travel Tips for visiting Zambia
Zambia is known as "The Real Africa," and getting to the remote southern reaches of Kafue is part of the adventure.
Planning Your trip your Zambia? Here's what you need to know
Getting to Zambia:
Most international travelers arrive via Kenneth Kaunda International (LUN) in Lusaka or Harry Mwanga Nkumbula (LVI) in Livingstone.
Reaching the South: * From Livingstone: A 3 to 4-hour drive (approx. 200km) takes you to the Dundumwezi Gate, making Southern Kafue an ideal companion to a Victoria Falls trip.
From Lusaka: Access via the M9 Spinal Road (approx. 5-6 hours) offers a scenic route through the heart of the park directly to Lake Itezhi-Tezhi.
By Air: For those short on time, charter flights land at the Ngoma or Chunga airstrips, followed by a short game drive to camp.
Visas & Entry (2026 Update):
Many nationalities (including UK, USA, Canada, and EU) currently enjoy visa-free entry for tourism. If you plan to cross into Zimbabwe, the KAZA UniVisa is the most cost-effective option.
When to Visit:
* Dry Season (June–October): Best for big game sightings as water becomes scarce.
Green Season (November–April): A lush, emerald paradise perfect for birdwatching and photography, though some bush-camps may close due to rain.
